Lucan’s Chris Gallagher had a day to remember after an epic play-off victory over JR Crangle and George McGreal on Sunday. Chris lead the way after 36 holes on -16 one ahead of the trio JR Crangle, George McGreal and Anthony Malone. The leading trio all finished on -20 with all missing chances to win it outright during the final round. Channonrock’s Brendan Lawlor almost edged into the play-off after he finished on -19. In the play-off, Chris was the only one of the trio to birdie two holes after holeing putts on the 2nd and 3rd. It was a third win for Chris in the event and gave him the points to move him to the top of the scratch cup series. There was a good crowd who played in Lucan despite the inclement weather and the performance of the Dublin players on the eve of the Leinster Inter County was a great boost with Mark Millar finishing on -13 and Gary Healy on -17. Junior Smith and Keith Redmond were to miss out on the final round cut. The Leinster Inter County will take place in Collinstown next Sunday morning.
