Following on from the success of Old County and Fairview CY in their efforts to attract new members to their clubs Portmarnock was the next club to venture forth and spread the gospel according to W.A. Collins.
Last Sunday the club had a stall at the Community Family Day held in Naomh Mearnog GAA club. From early on there was a steady gathering of people especially some of our Under 16 members.
A feature of the stall was the offer of a free golf ball to anyone who could hole a putt into a mechanical putting machine, this attracted huge crowds especially kids who all fancied their chances. It was wonderful to see kids as young as 3 or 4 carrying their golf ball around the event for the rest of the day, hopefully they’ll get to use the ball in a few years time.
Well done to the Portmarnock club who made this happen and a big warm welcome to the new members.
