This week Old County will host their 2nd open of the season with a few changes from previous years.
The Over 55 day gets things under way at 10am on Wednesday morning and with 18 Nett and 18 Gross prizes on offer for both gents & ladies it offers people the perfect opportunity to get their week off to a winning start.
Then from Thursday to Saturday, Old County will host a singles Open. The club has always traditionally hosted a scotch foursomes or Fourball, but in line with a lot of players preference and to allow players to get a round in on their way home from work, they will host a Singles Open and with play up till dusk on Thursday and Friday and from 9am to 4PM on Saturday. It is also the perfect opportunity to get in some practice ahead of Sunday’s scratch cup.
On Sunday the Club will host their scratch cup and for the 1st time It will be renamed the “Christy Broe” scratch cup after a man who needs no introduction to the wider pitch & putt family. Christy a former Dublin County Board Chairman has been a member in O’Toole Park since the late 60’s and has played key roles in so much of the wonderful work that has built up the club. Christy was delighted when he was asked re naming the scratch cup after him and is looking forward very much to Sunday. All we need now is some good weather and a good crowd.
