On Sunday last we had the gents National stroke play senior section in Stackallen .With 16 Dublin players taking part we hoped to bridge the 23 year gap since our last winner.After the first 36 we only got 3 players through namely J R Crangle,J Judge and H Kelly.J R was -12,Jim -8 and Hubert -8 and in a fantastic playoff when several players got in the mix the title was up for grabs.When Jim and Hubert performing solidly but few fireworks it was left to JR to stake his claim for glory.With 4 holes to play he stood joint leader on the course after some superb shot making alas that elusive birdie just didn’t happen for him and hard as he tried it just wasn’t to be. JR finished 3rd 1 shy of the leader and we are so proud of his valiant effort and what he has brought to our game that elusive title can not be far away.We thank all the players for making it a tremendous championship and the work of the Stackallen club who left a huge impression on all who attended this memorable championship.
