The Leinster match play took place over the weekend at Ryston and St Bridgets.At the close of play on Saturday evening we had B Cody and S McDonnell facing each other in Sundays semi.Betty’s experience was to prove vital in the match and she proved victorious over a gallant opponent.Betty then met local member Bernie Dunne in the final but alas this proved a bridge too far and Bernie’s local knowledge proved a telling factor in her victory. Well done Betty and Siobhain.
The gents senior seen some top class matches and the final 4 comprised of 3 Dublin players J Judge v G Healy and JR Crangle v P Tobin(St Patricks).Jim and Gary’s match proved nip and tuck looked to be heading for tie holes until Jim produced a superb par on the 36th to clinch victory.JR was building up a head of steam throughout the tournament and overcame Paul with a clinical display.In the final with JR in relentless form Jim had no answer to this awesome display and hard as he tried the consistency required eluded him.JR proved a worthy winner and so completed his hat trick of wins and 4th in all.To Jim and Gary well done and on these showings will both hopefully have a season to remember.JR’s success augurs well for the rest of the season and we wish him well in his quest for the holy grail well done lads.
