The pristine Glenville venue held the U.16 strokeplay finals on Saturday and what a morning it was. The weather was fantastic with only the pitch & putt beating it!
Can we just say that to the Parents and coaches of the players – you are a credit. The players played with such fun, such skill, such enjoyment – it was absolutely refreshing to watch.
Luke Devlin from the Glenville club put in a superb display, especially in his first round 53, as he retained his title form 12 months earlier. Alex Keegan, from lucan, who is improving every time he picks up the club, battled away to finish second ahead of Oisin Horan of Glenville in 3rd. Oisin by the way, organised a 6 hour round trip from the Gaeltacht, to make the event – hats off to you Oisin.
Also from Lucan, were Eimear and Maebh Aherne – both fantastic pitch & putt prospects who played with such skill and grace. They flew around the 36 holes with the minimum of fuss with Eimear pipping her younger sister on this occasion. Well done to both of you.
A big shout out to Miriam Salmon (Dublin Juvenile officer) for organising the competition and to Christine Mulvey of Glenville who does trojan work with the U.16’s and arranged both the course and facilities for us. Thankyou.
To all clubs in Dublin who have U.16’s registered – please link in with Miriam Salmon and get involved.
