A sunny but blustery tricky day greeted all the teams representing our Dublin Clubs when the Dublin County Board Mixed Scramble Finals took place in Portmarnock.
All the teams had qualified from their home courses with fierce battles we are sure throughout the county!
The day though was once again to be dominated by teams from Lucan, with a 1-2 for the 12th Lock club.
The winning team was Anne, Dermot & Simon Heffernan who built on a simply tremondous first round of -12 gross and a 31 nett, with a round of -8 and 35 Nett to finish on a 66 Nett total.
This was to be just 2/3’s better than fellow Lucan family, the O’Reillys led by former All-Ireland Matchplay winner Darren along with Martina and their son Christian. A fantastic result for the Lucan Club.
Fairview CY would take the gross prize on the day with Tadgh Harrington,Ger Edwards and Derek Murtagh putting in a fantastic display of pitch & putt to finish -20 for their two rounds just taking it courstesy of their 2nd 18.
The home sides are certainly ones to fear in this competition and the trio of John Melia, Mary & Jeffrey Breen were to finish 3rd overall but would take the first 18 prize with a stunning 31 Nett. Old County are another club to fear in team events and the team of Thomas O’Reilly, Margaret Collins & Denis Grace were to take the second 18 prize with a 32 1/3.
