With the final trial having been played in the Intermediate and junior grades for places on the graded inter county teams, we now know the make up of both panels. Well done to those who made the teams.
The Inter team is
Paul Griffin – Old County (Captain)
Gary Ryan – Lucan
Chris Cawley – Loughlinstown
Glenn Woodward – Erins Isle
Eric Byrne – Old County
Tom Brady – Portmarnock
Sub: Eric Doyle – Old County
Manager – Charlie Egan
The Junior Team is
David Lee – Lucan (Captain)
Jonathan Dillon – Lucan
David Roy – Erins Isle
MJ Maher – Lucan
Jack King – Lucan
Jay Condron – Lucan
Sub – Luke Birrell – Old County.
Charlie Egan is once again the manager of the Intermediate team and has kept a close eye on the trial process over the last couple of months, which was so close that it seen players 4th to 7th on the panel only separated by the 2nd 18s of the counting trials. Charlie has announced Paul Griffin as his Captain for 2015 and knows Paul will bring a wealth of experience to the team. The fact that Old County who recently returned to the Intermediate league finals have 3 players on the team, shows how strong the team is, I am sure Paul and the two Eric’s will not be found wanting when called upon. Add Chris Cawley, Gary Ryan, Glen Woodward and Tom Brady into the mix, shows that the Intermediates have a really good blend of youth, experience and skill on the team this year. Charlie is looking forward to working with the team over the next month or so with a friendly match against Westmeath in Lucan on Saturday 8th August and a number of other get together planned to ensure the team will be well prepared for the Inter County in Castletown on August15th
Junior Team Manager Rob Ryan said he was delighted with the team and believes it is reflective of the position of Junior Pitch & Putt in Dublin. Lucan have been the dominant force and are producing the best players. Rob went onto say these guys have been excellent throughout the trials and showed their commitment to make the team. Rob announced Lucan’s David Lee as the team captain. Rob said I managed to play with David in the trials and I can see how much it means to Dave to make the team. He is playing really well, topped the trials and really wants the team to do well. I think he has great characteristics to lead the team. The Lucan core have been really interested in the process. Jay played well last year on the Dublin team and great to see Jonathan back playing well. MJ Maher will be a great addition too and Jack King is one of the top juniors around. Rob said he was delighted to see David Roy make the team. David is a good player who has played at a higher level, he will bring good quality to the team. We will have a good few sessions over the next few weeks and make sure the team is ready to make a big impression in Castletown on August 15th.
