Dublin Board 2019

Thankyou to everyone who turned up and supported the AGM on Saturday. We had 10 clubs represented – it was very much appreciated and added greatly to a positive and constructive meeting. Special thanks to Michael Murphy (Hon. Secretary of NEC) and Michael O Gorman (Hon. Auditor) for attending also.

Our Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting and we started with a minutes silence for our deceased members.

The agenda was stuck to and the meeting went smoothly. The minutes from the 2018 AGM were passed. We went through the treasury report with our auditor and figures were slightly up on last year thanks largely to our main sponsor Payzone together with Eamonn Birchall & The Drain Doctor. We thank you very much for your support. Inter Counties are the biggest cost each season but that cost should be reduced this year with the Inter Counties back in Leinster so we are in good shape.

Our Chairman talked us through some of the highlights of the competitions we ran through the season and Miriam spoke about the U.16’s grade which she said went well at a local level but disappointed at National level as we couldn’t field a team.

Junior Smith spoke about the 2018 leagues and congratulated the winners. The stats indicate that we are down on teams year on year and Junior mentioned a change for the upcoming season. Anyone with any interest in the leagues should attend the next Board meeting on February the 11th at 8pm in Portmarnock where it will be discussed and finalised.

Motions to be brought forward to the NEC convention were discussed back and forward with most of the talking points revolving around the new golf rules and which ones should be applicable to our game. Ultimately several motions were passed and our Chairman will discuss them at the National convention in March.

Nominations for the 2019 Dublin Board were decided. All outgoing officers were voted in again with Miriam Salmon switching to Registrar. We thank all the existing officers for volunteering and helping again.  We are also delighted to announce two new officers in Shane Devlin & Julian Kelly – both Glenville. Shane is back playing after a few years absence but has been very active in the U.16 grade over recent years where his son Luke has been very successful. Shane joins us as U.16 officer and brings a lot to the table in this area. We wish Shane all the best in the season ahead. Julian Kelly saw that we were still short some positions and put his hand up to to help with Competition Secretary being discussed – this just needs to be confirmed at the next board meeting but we are absolutely delighted to have Julian’s interest, dedication and experience with us. Two big assets for the 2019 season.

Chairman: Anthony Malone (Lucan)

Hon. Secretary: Darren Thornberry (RGSC)

Hon. Treasurer: Marise Carroll (RGSC)

Competition Secretary: Julian Kelly (Glenville) to be ratified at next meeting

We finished the meeting by confirming the quorum for the Board meetings in 2019 which were set at a minimum of three officers and 5 clubs present for the meeting to be valid.
