We played the Des Flanagan Mixed foursome finals today at the wonderful Old County venue. The weather was kind and the day ran very smoothly.
The competition itself is a tough format – there are no hiding places in foursomes and mistakes are plenty. The winners typically are those who make the least amount of mistakes on the day!
After a hugely emotional and deserving tribute yesterday in Lucan for Dave Hayden, it was fitting that we were back at the club where it all started for him. Indeed, Dave was the topic all day with great stories and memories being shared among the players.
After a minute silence for Dave, Old County’s President Paul Mcgreal got the presentation on the way with a wonderful introduction and reference to the great player and administrator Des Flanagan. He then handed over to our Chairman and Secretary Breda Boyle to announce the winners.
