THE DUBLIN SCRATCH CUP SERIES 2018:
Players can enter this coming SUNDAY in IERNE as they enter the Scratch Cup.
This Sunday see’s the long road begin in the Dublin Scratch Cup Series of 2017. Ierne is the first of our 9 designated tournaments with Lucan, Erins Isle, Loughlinstown, Portmarnock, Old County, Glenville, RGSC and the Dublin County Board Scratch Cup all counting towards your Series final total.
The series final itself will take place on a yet to be named course on October the 28th as a 36 hole strokeplay.
This competition is open to players in all adult grades and all members of the PPUI.
NEW FOR 2018:
To encourage players from lower grades we will now have Overall Nett Prizes to play for with the best 6 scores from 9 counting.
Entry fee will be a once off payment of €10 for all entrants. Once that is paid you are eligible to score points in any of the remaining Scratch Cups. This can be paid before you participate at any Scratch Cup. If you are not paid up before you start then you will not get points at that Scratch Cup.
Players may enter at any point in the season but previous results will not count.
The grade you play your FIRST designated scratch cup will be your grade for the duration of the series. Nett scores will be one overall grade.
The Gents Grades will be Senior, Intermediate and Junior Grades as per PPUI Handicap System.
There must be a minimum of 8 overall entrants in any grade for a Series Final to take place. If there are less than 8 entrants then the winner will be announced at the final regular Scratch Cup.
The Series final fields will have a maximum of 18 players in each grade.
All winners of the designated Scratch Cups will automatically qualify for the Series Final once they are paid up before the start of play and regardless of their overall points total.
If the winner is not entered in the series then the points will drop down to the next best score in each grade but they will not qualify automatically for the Series Final.
Points will be given out as such:
Top positioned player 30pts
2nd 28pts
3rd 26pts
4th 24pts
5th 22pts
6th 20pts
7th 18pts
8th 16pts
9th 14pts
10th 12pts
11th 10pts
12th 8pts
All entries will receive 5pts for each Scratch Cup even if they play more than 6. This is to reward entrants in all Scratch Cups.
Points will be given out over 54 holes of competition. If less than 10 entrants make the 36hole cut then the points will move down to the 36 hole scores. Players level on scores will have there finishing points added and then divided by the number of players level on those points. 0.5 will be rounded up to the next whole number.
There will be a new system in place for the finals day with the points on the final day encouraging all players to take their chance at the overall titles with the top 5 players leading going into the last 36 holes knowing a win will win them the overall like the PGA FEDEX Tour Finals. These points will be displayed at a later date and all other players making the cut will be able to take victory depending on the rest of the fields outcome.
