A successful Saturday

With such an action packed weekend in store it would have disappointing if we had no victories to report but gladly we have!

Congratulations to Shandon and Dublin stalwart Maree O’Toole who won the All-Ireland Senior Ladies Intermediate Championships in Cloghogue today. Maree shot a brilliant -1 total score to win by a 6 shot margin.

There was more success as the Intermediate Gents team won back the Dave Donnelly Trophy from their Westmeath counterparts in the surrounds of RGSC. The game was played in a wonderful spirit, befitting the kind nature of the former Erins Isle man who the trophy is named. A great performance by the men as they will look to reclaim the Leinster title in Lough Owel in a couple of weeks time.

Finally hard luck in the All-Ireland U-16 Matchplay Championships to Old County juvenile Lennon Blake who fought ferociously all day in St.Stephens, Co.Cork. Lennon romped through his round robin group winning all 4 of his games to qualify for the final 16. The winning though was to stop there but Lennon gave his all and will no doubt be back.
Good luck to all our players playing around the country tomorrow
