The Co.Board wish to congratulate Ger Ward Portmarnock on winning the ladies match play in Lucan over the weekend, thus becoming the first player to win 15 National titles. This was her 9th win in the match play with her first success in 1984 and now almost 30 years later regaining a title she richly deserved to win . Words fail me to describe the magic she brings to our game and looking at her yesterday im sure more titles will rest on the shoulders of this brilliant player.We also had a fine display from Gers sparring partner Sheila Elmes Portmarnock who reached the semi finals and kept the flag flying for the dubs alas she just failed to nail the win.In the gents section we had 4 players in the quarter finals however victory proved elusive .The Lucan club came up trumps again and were worthy hosts of this festival of what our game is all about a job well done. To everyone who took part either as a player or spectator take a bow and to the NEC the weekend was truly a major sucesss go raibh maith agat.
