In glorious sunshine in Portmarnock the ladies class 1 final took place between Lucan and RGSC. With the greens in pristine condition a close game was anticipated and so we had. Lucan struck first with a comprehensive victory in game 1 and when they secured the 2nd game it was left to S Keely and Glenda Hoey to put RGSC back into the match and this they duly did. The early singles saw P Condron gain an early lead and with strong controlled display she closed out the match on the 15th. This left Lucan needing 2 out of 5 singles and hard as RGSC fought the experienced Lucan squad were not to be denied.First C Leonard won on the 15th and when E O Gorman won her game the title was Lucan’s.The final was graced with some top class play and to both teams well done on your performances. Thanks to to all the supporters who attended and above all our thanks to the host club who took the final at such short notice. To all teams who entered thanks and hopefully we can gain more teams involved next year with the new format we tried out this year.
