The Dublin Board held its annual meeting in RGSC on Saturday but unfortunately the meeting was adjourned before we could finish.
The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting and as always, we held a minutes silence for our deceased members.
The Secretary then read out the minutes from last years meeting which were passed before moving on to his report.
The treasurer then read out her report which was signed off by our auditors Michael O Gorman and Brendan O Shea.
Shane Devlin and Breda Boyle read out their reports for the Juvenile and Competition sections respectively.
The Chairman and NEC delegate Michael Murphy then spoke about registrations across the County and Country which were mildly encouraging compared to recent years.
Then came the nomination of Dublin Board officers. With our Chairman and Secretary stepping down this year, it was hoped that people would come through and take on the roles but nobody came forward.
Our outgoing officers in Treasury, Competitions and Juveniles all said they were going forward for their respective roles but with no Chairman and Secretary in place, the meeting was adjourned because we could not complete a functioning Board that requires a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer to be in place.
Clubs will now be sent a letter highlighting the issue with returns to be back before the 3rd February. The next meeting will be in Monday the 10th of February at 8pm in RGSC.
If we don’t run our own board, the issue falls to the NEC who will dictate what happens next within the resources they have.
It’s fair to say that the Dublin Championships and Dublin’s participation at Inter County level is very much at risk in 2020 if we don’t fill the board along with the obvious concerns for our game that a County with 1200 members can’t manage itself.
